The Visitor Center is located in the Ramsay House which was built in 1724. It is the oldest house in Alexandria and was built by William Ramsay. Ramsay was the fist mayor of Alexandria in 1749. The Ramsay house was later occupied by his son Dennis Ramsay hand his descendants. The Ramsay house was purached by the City of Alexandria in 1944 to prevent its demolition. Guided tours can be arranged at the Visitor's Center and cost $15 per person in 2008.
Get a free 24 hour parking proclamation from the Visitor Center. Good for parking in 2 hour zones only but you can park there for 24 hours instead of 2 hours.
