Glass baby bottles With Rubber Nipples
Glass baby bottles were produced in a variety of shapes throughout the 1800's. The bottles with one opening were designed for the baby to be left to feed unattended. Bv the late 19th century, double ended feeders were manufactured to have a nipple at one end and a finger valve to regulate the flow of milk at the other end. With the invention of vulcanized rubber in the 1840s, black India rubber nipples, with a pungent smell, were made for glass bottles. The brown nipples are a later improved model, which were more palatable for a baby to use.
