Attention to Visitors
The Youghiogheny is a whitewater river that contains server natural hazards. Such as waterfalls, violent rapids, swift currents, deep pool, cold water, slippery rocks, and rough terrain. Visitors should be alert for these hazards and exercise caution to protect themselves and any children from potentially life threatening accidents.
Danger: The river and the river banks in the area of the Ohiopyle Falls are especially hazardous, therefore, all visitors must obey the posed danger signs and stay well back from the water's edge.
Emergencies: Assistance may be secured by contacting any park employee, by going to the launch area contact station just beyond the concession / restroom buildings or by telephoning the appropriate emergency number posed beside the public telephone at the concession / restroom buildings.
